I believe that kids can learn while having fun playing on a tablet!
My passion is to create engaging, interactive games for kids that are not only fun, but educational.
My Journey:
I have a BFA and MFA in scenic design for the theatre. While in grad school I noticed how there was beautiful scenery in video games. I decided I wanted to become an environmental artist. I worked in the gaming industry for 7 years making AAA titles and got burned out. I took a step back and saw kids everywhere playing on handheld devices. I was thinking they could be learning while playing. I was a 3D artist, and most educational games are 2D, so I went back to school to get a certificate in Visual Communications Technology, specializing in 2D art and animation. For the last 10 years I have been creating educational titles. While working on my passion project Gimble the Happy Tree Frog, an App that is a math storybook that teaches kids how to use math, I decided the user experience was very important. I wanted my apps to be intuitive and engaging for kids, so I went back to school and got my certificate in User-Centered Design.
While I am not making apps for kids, I enjoy watercolor painting, hip hop dancing, playing with my dogs and teaching kids art.
